The sun is shining

Somehow I (or we) often feel that the Dutch weather is bad. But today the sun is shining. There's a very strong wind so I'm not sure how many enjoy this, but I do.
Last week I handed it in a first version or draft of my thesis and it needed quite a lot of work, so here I am, sitting in the sun, near my mum's pond (which is by the way, losing more and more water everyday) to read up on contact linguistics...

African Music - Maurice Kirya

On facebook I came across a video of Ugandan artist Maurice Kirya who was in a Kenyan television show. I was captured by his looks first, then by his total appearance. He sang a song titled I Will Sing, which did not make me fall of my chair, but it did make me look for more of his music on YouTube. And there were some songs that did indeed make me fall. That was yesterday. I spend some time checking all his video's on YouTube, and today I decided to buy his album Misubbaawa on cdbaby.com. His songs are very diverse. When singing Malaika he reminds me immediately of Lokua Kanza from Congo. Hearing If I Ever could make you thing this is American Soul artist Kem. It's a great album and worth much more than the $9,99!

Calves Love Me!

It's good from time to time to get some attention. The good thing of living on the country side is that you can walk for hours without meeting anyone. I try to walk everyday and I found that I have many fans. On several fields there are calves and they just love me. They all come running towards me and following me along the fence.
I wonder what it says about me that this means so much to me....
